After months of rumors Capcom have officially announced Resident Evil 6 and revealed a November 20, 2012 release date for the 360 and PS3. A PC version of the game will be available sometime later.
Check out Capcom’s description of the game:
It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.
It sounds as awesomely crazy as we’ve come to expect from Resident Evil. Longtime series regulars Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield return, although this is the first time both have appeared in the same numbered sequel. They will be joined by “new characters, each with their own unique perspective and involvement, in this relentless dramatic horror experience enacted on a global scale.” The campaign features single-player and co-op and takes place across the world with stops in the US and China. From the trailer below we can see that Ashley, the President’s daughter last seen in RE4, appears in the game. Also, does anyone doubt Wesker showing up? Anyone?

Executive Producer of Resident Evil 6 Hiroyuki Kobayashi states “From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror. We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers.”
Capcom also wasted no time beginning a retail pre-order campaign offering Amazon, GameStop, and Best Buy customers each an exclusive map for use in various modes of the game.
