About HugeGamer.com

Welcome to Huge Gamer, an independant website about video games created in 2007. We are based in Orange County, California and cover anything gaming related that suits our fancy. Our primary focus is on news, reviews, and analysis of the gaming industry. Whether you're all about home consoles, mobile devices, or PC gaming, you're at home here.

Below are some answers to questions that you might be having.

Who Writes These Words?

That would be me, Dynamite Jack. I began playing video games in 1981 at age five on my family's Atari 800 and have been hooked ever since. I cut my teeth on such non-classics as Star Raiders and Salmon Run before moving to the NES I got for Christmas in 1987. (Yes, I had R.O.B. the Robot)

Over the years I've survived numerous console wars like the SNES vs Genesis, PlayStation vs. N64, and the brutal Dreamcast vs. PS2. That one was particularly painful. I'm the proud owner of all of today's consoles and the only preference I have is for great games. Fanboys begone! I like liking things :)

Occasionally you might come across a guest editorial or review from a friend of HugeGamer so please be nice to them, they come in peace.

My Review Philosophy

My goal when writing reviews is to be honest, descriptive, and fair. If a team of people spent months of their lives developing a game, the least I can do is play it with an open mind. To me, games are really about one thing - fun. That's the reason all of us play them to begin with and that's the only ingredient that's vital.

I also believe in keeping my reviews simple because let's be honest, you're busy and I'm busy. The last thing either of us wants to do is read a rambling ten page epic masquerading as a game review. Like they old saying goes, "Don't bore us, get to the chorus". What is the game about? What is exceptionally good and what is unforgivably bad? Most of the things in between aren't that important.

I score on a 1-10 review scale with a 10 being bliss and a 1 being miss. It's not a scientific scale, just a gut feeling after playing a game. The score I give is what I would tell a friend.
