Remedy bringing Alan Wake to the PC, arrives on Steam Feb 16

Alan Wake PC Screenshot

Anyone who has been to this site knows how we feel about Alan Wake. Not only was it HugeGamer's 2010 Game of the Year, but it garnered praise all across the gaming community for it's cerebral story and enigmatic characters. Heck, even TIME Magazine gave it the thumbs up. Now if only non-360 owners could somehow experience it's greatness. Hmmm.....

Remedy announces Alan Wake's American Nightmare

At last weekend's VGA's we finally got a peek at the next chapter in the saga of Alan Wake, a stand-alone XBLA game entitled Alan Wake's American Nightmare.

As you will notice from the trailer above, American Nightmare takes place in the southwest of the United States, apparently somewhere in Arizona. How did Alan get there from Bright Falls? Who is that woman? Was that an automatic rifle I saw? Why am I asking myself so many questions all of a sudden?

Remedy says the game will be available on Xbox Live in Q1 2012 so thankfully  we don't have to wait much longer to find out.

By the way, if I knew of a place where "fiction and dreams come true" I would make American Nightmare an appetizer to a full-blown Alan Wake 2 sequel on the Xbox Whatevertheyendupcallingit!

I mean, you guys know how I feel about Alan Wake right?

Right?

Seriously, Right?

Death Rally Coming To iOS Devices This March

Remedy will be bringing a port of their classic game Death Rally to iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) this March.

Originally released in 1996 on the PC, Death Rally was Remedy's first title and the one that put them on the map. The iOS version is being ported by Mountain Sheep, the developer behind Minigore.

So while we wait for Remedy to crank out a sequel to Alan Wake, we can kill each other with our phones on the go. Hopefully a XBLA and PSN version is in the works.

Alan Wake Tops TIME Magazine's 2010 Games Of The Year

 Alan Wake

Time Magazine have unveiled their list of the top ten games of 2010 and it includes are few surprises along with the expected entries.

Alan Wake leads the pack, and really why shouldn't it? It's a fantastic game that not enough people played so maybe this will help it garner a little more attention. If you own an Xbox 360, you should have this game. It's that simple.

Mr. Wake is followed by the iPhone / iPad hit Angry Birds which might be something of a surprise if you're strictly a console gamer. Anyone who spent time flinging birds this year knows this game is worthy of such praise.

You can read the complete list after the break to see if your favorites made the cut.

Review: Alan Wake "The Writer" DLC Episode

If you’ve read my reviews of Alan Wake and the first Episode of DLC “The Signal”, you know that I’m an enormous fan of this game. No other title this year has resonated with me in such a profound way as the story of Mr. Wake and the quirky town of Bright Falls.

“The Writer” is the final downloadable episode for Alan Wake and it aims to conclude it's fantastic story. This DLC comes with a 560 MS pts price tag ($7), but is it worth the price of admission?

Review: Alan Wake "The Signal" DLC

The Signal is the first DLC "Special Episode" for Remedy's Alan Wake on the Xbox 360. It picks up where the story left off in the main game so obviously it's meant to be played after finishing it.

If you haven't played Alan Wake (what's wrong with you?) then you can read my review and find out what all the fuss is about.

I've decided the best thing to do is review The Signal in two ways. The first is a spoiler-free answer for people wondering if it's worth their time. The second is a detailed discussion of the plot in The Signal meant to be read after you've finished it. I just had to share it with somebody :)

What follows first is my spoiler-free review.

Alan Wake The Signal DLC Trailer

Hopefully this won't get lost in all the noise from E3 today, but I'm posting it here just to make sure it doesn't.

Here is a brief glimpse of The Signal, the first DLC episode for Alan Wake arriving on July 27 on Xbox Live.

Now I'm not sure when this is occuring, during or after the events of the game, but we see Alan and his agent Barry wondering through the woods and doing what they do best: killing freaks and making jokes. Let's hope they reach that sawmill.

All we know for sure is that it will be free to anyone who purchased a new copy of Alan Wake thanks to the code inside every copy of the game.

See you on the 27th.

Alan Wake Stars In "WAR" Music Video By Poets of the Fall

This is almost too awesome for words.

A couple of days ago there was a 15 second teaser video showing a live-action Alan Wake awaking in the woods and finding a manuscript page. Speculation was that it was some kind of hint at the upcoming DLC or a new ad campaign, but now we know for sure.

The footage was taken from the music video of the song "WAR" by Finnish rock group Poets of the Fall. You may recognize the song as it can be heard in the game (Episode 5 - on a radio in a garage).

I'll let the video speak for itself. Feel free to leave your interpretations in the comments section.

By the way, I'd kill for a "Children of the Elder God" video. Just sayin'

Review: Alan Wake

My name is Dynamite Jack. I'm a gamer.

You may notice that my review of Alan Wake is arriving a little later than it should be. There's a good reason for that -- I've been busy playing through Alan Wake again because I like it so much. Honestly, as I'm typing this I WANT to be playing Alan Wake instead of sitting at my computer. It's really that good.

It would save us both time if I could just summarize this review into three words: Go Play It!

However, if you still need convincing then I'm prepared to stay here as long as it takes to get you to play Alan Wake.

As always, this is a Spoiler-Free review

Alan Wake Limited Collector's Edition Unboxing

I know I'm slightly late to the party, but I finally got the Limited Collector's Edition of Alan Wake. I filmed the obligatory unboxing video in case any of you fine folks are wondering what goodies lurk inside.

It's definitely one of my favorite Collector's Editions due to the quality on bonus content. The book is outstanding. I read it today and it adds quite a bit to the story of the game. I understand things better now.

If you haven't picked up Alan Wake yet then go buy it now. Seriously, are you allergic to great games or something? If you do decide to get it then take my word that the Limited Collector's Edition is the way to go.
